Sister Parish Update from El Salvdor – March and May

In video above from March 2021, Julieta Borja gives us an update from El Salvador about the Sister Parish communities’ aid efforts and the February municipal and legislative elections. President Bukele’s party won a solid majority in Congress in these elections, causing many to express concern about the increased power of the president.

On May 1, the newly sworn in legislative assembly voted to dismiss the Attorney General and all of the judges on the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Court. The decision has caused concern about checks and balances in El Salvador and the future plans of the party in power.
