Staff Services


For Hermanamientos (North and South)

  • Assists in the discernment process of joining Sister Parish, Inc. and in which country to begin an hermanamiento.
  • Educates new churches/communities about Sister Parish’s mission and vision and familiarizes them with the new culture and history of their brothers and sisters.
  • Orients and accompanies all delegations, both north and south.
  • Involves churches/communities in regional gatherings where they share their experiences and learning.


For Individual Delegates

  • Helps participants discover new aspects of themselves, as they interact with others.
  • Helps participants understand the social, economic, and political realities of the respective countries.

Communication

  • Facilitates meetings, workshops, and bible studies in the north and south focused on strengthening the relationships between all members of Sister Parish, and empowerment through faith.
  • Visits Central American communities in between delegations to provide support,
    receive and deliver communications, to provide educational workshops, and
    logistical support in carrying out projects undertaken between hermanamientos.
  • Arranges for all translations between linked communities both during delegations
    and throughout the year.
  • Maintains contact with northern churches through e-mail, written reports, and
    visits, to nurture the relationships, troubleshoot when necessary, and give
    guidance.
  • Publishes stories, news, activities, and educational articles on our web page,
    weblog, and printed newsletter in Spanish and English to keep people informed in both the north and south.

Advocacy/Education

  • Provides information and opportunities to advocate for social justice in all participating countries.
  • Raises awareness about the roles that governments play in our daily lives and how globalization impacts us in both positive and negative ways.
  • Provides an outlet for the sales of Central America crafts through its
    hermanamientos who produce fair trade items.
