Staff Profiles

Ellen Moore: Executive Director Ellen, a Wisconsin native, received her undergraduate degree in Spanish and Justice and Peace Studies from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota in 2005. Since then she has been working with various organizations in Guatemala in the area of human rights. Ellen worked for over a year as an international human rights accompanier in rural and urban Guatemala with the Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala. Most recently she collaborated with the Myrna Mack Foundation on an investigation of the violent deaths of women in Guatemala.  Read more about Ellen and her vision for Sister Parish here.

Christine Haider: Regional Coordinator in US.  Christine graduated from Earlham College in 2007 with a degree in Peace and Global Studies and an emphasis in Women and Social Change.  Before coming to Sister Parish, she was the Field Program Assistant for the Friends Committee on National Legislation, a Quaker peace lobby.  In her spare time, she participates in homeless advocacy and HIV/AIDS education and is on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Ordination Conference.  Christine lives in Washington, DC, but is still a California girl at heart.

Sergio Balan: Regional Coordinator in Guatemala.  Sergio accompanies, plans, and translates for delegations, and translates written communications between faith communities. Accompanies churches engaged in mutual projects. Supports the work of the Guatemalan Directive and helps them to organize national and international activities. Sergio Balan is a talented elementary school teacher and computer technician from rural Guatemala. He and his family live in San Martìn Jilotepeque, Chimaltenago. He joined the Sister Parish staff in September of 2005.
